Pricing Models & Free Tier

The Pay-As-You-Go model allows the startup to pay only for the resources they use, eliminating the need for large upfront investments in hardware, thus addressing their concern about initial costs.

Option A is correct because cloud computing reduces the need to provision infrastructure for maximum expected demand in advance, allowing resources to be provisioned and scaled as workload requirements change. Option D is correct because AWS benefits from economies of scale by aggregating demand across a large customer base and can pass those efficiencies through to customers. Option B is incorrect because fixed infrastructure capacity does not take advantage of the elasticity of cloud resources. Option C is incorrect because AWS allows customers to provision resources without purchasing physical hardware in advance. Option E is incorrect because cloud customers still need to monitor and manage resource consumption to control costs. Reference: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner CLF-C02 — Cloud Economics.

The AWS Pricing Calculator is the appropriate tool for estimating the costs of new AWS resources. It allows users to input their expected usage and provides a detailed cost estimate for planning purposes.

Migration Evaluator is the tool designed to compare existing on-premises costs with AWS costs, providing a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to support migration decisions.

AWS Lambda is part of the 'Always Free' tier, offering 1 million requests per month indefinitely. Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3 are part of the '12 Months Free' tier, which expires after 12 months.

In AWS, outbound data transfer from services like Amazon EC2 to the public internet incurs charges (Option B). Additionally, data transferred between different AWS Regions (cross-region data transfer) is not free and incurs charges (Option C). Inbound data transfer from the internet to AWS services (Options A and D) is generally free. Data transferred from AWS origins (like S3) to CloudFront is also free of charge (Option E).

Option C is correct because AWS Pricing Calculator allows teams to model planned AWS architectures and estimate their expected costs before deploying resources. Option E is correct because AWS Cost Explorer analyzes historical AWS cost and usage data and can generate forecasts for future spending based on past usage. Option A is incorrect because AWS Budgets primarily establishes spending or usage thresholds and provides alerts rather than serving as the primary tool for historical trend forecasting. Option B is incorrect because AWS Migration Evaluator is intended primarily for data-driven business cases and planning migrations from existing environments to AWS. Option D is incorrect because AWS Trusted Advisor provides recommendations for areas such as cost optimization, performance, security, and service limits rather than serving as a general-purpose financial forecasting or architecture estimation tool.
